Thanksgiving 09

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year. The Saturday before Thanksgiving, my family all had our turkey dinner at my brother, Robbie's home. He has a beautiful home with lots of woods for riding 4-wheelers. It was great to spend time with my family. I am so blessed and have so much to be thankful for. On Thanksgiving morning, Carl shot a doe and then we went over to spend the day at his sister, Michele's home. We had the most delicious meal and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. I didn't have my camera with me, but managed to swipe these pics from my Mom.
The cousins patiently waiting to eat

Abby & Katelyn made these leaves with fill in the blanks for us to write what we are thankful for.

Rick & Kerri ??? (is this the Christmas card pic?)

I'm so thankful for my husband

My Dad brought a bin of old photo albums. We came across some very funny pics!

Why do I get the feeling that I am the reason they are laughing!!

What happened to November??

Wow! This month has flown by! We have been busy with school, Carl has been busy hunting, and we had an awesome Thanksgiving with our families (hopefully I'll get those pics up soon).
Carl also had a birthday this month. The kids and I made him a bday cake. I got a babysitter and a pizza so Carl and I got to go out to dinner and of course a trip to BassPro. Then we had his birthday cake when we got home.

Carl shot an awesome buck a couple weeks ago. Caleb got to take the day off school to help track and recover the deer.

Trick or Treat

I got to help out in Ella's classroom for her Fall Party. Here is her class listening to a story, while we set up for the party. Ella is the BumbleBee all the way in the back.

Here she is enjoying her cupcake and she even made one for Isaac.

BumbleBee

Laura Ingalls Wilder and the Lego Bionicle Man all dressed up for school. (A lady in our church made Abby's pioneer dress. It was so cute and she got a ton of compliments on it)

We took the kids to an outdoor shopping area for Trick-or-Treat. Each year they bring in a petting zoo, the fire department, and jugglers. And all the stores pass out candy!

My little pumpkin! He loved petting the animals.

Free Fall-ing

Leaf-waxing is a fun fall project and doesn't cost a thing. This is the first time we have done it, and the girls loved it. The hardest part is waiting for the wax to melt. First we (Ella) collected a bunch of different kinds of leaves in the yard. I chopped up a white candle I had and melted it in a foil lined pan.

After the wax was melted, we dipped the leaves into the wax (quickly and carefully).

Then laid them on wax paper till they were hardened.

They are so stiff and shiny when they dry.

Then we made them into a garland and hung it across the mirror!

Ta-dah! Fun, Easy, Free, Pretty!

We also hung out at B&N last week and enjoyed this. Mmmmmm!

And IKEA had free kids meals all week :) I love that place!

Abby's Field Trip

Isaac and I got to go a field trip with Abby's class. We went on a nature scavenger hunt at Nisbet Park. My group had 5 girls, including Abby. We searched for coniferous leaves, deciduous leaves, seeds, animal tracks, animal habitats, and even found a snake skin. Then we had a picnic lunch.
